We are a gourmet Bakery/Cafe in Santa Cruz offering the finest selection of wedding cakes, pies and tarts, pastries, and European style bread. We also serve hot breakfasts, lunch sandwiches, homemade soups, and crisp, fresh salads. All our menu items start with special ingredients like Glaum organic eggs, Saag's Black Forest ham, Live Earth Farm strawberries and locally grown produce when possible. Everything is fresh. We roll out our own pot pie crusts, make all our salad dressings from scratch, roast red peppers, and simmer our homemade soups daily. We've been voted Best Bakery in Santa Cruz many times and are widely considered the "Go To" cake place for weddings, birthdays and special occasions. You'll discover our take-out and catering menus feature the same premium ingredients and extra love that have made us famous, so they taste really terrific. Great location all around. Iâ€™m from Florida visiting, and I wasnâ€™t sure where the â€˜must goâ€™ spots according to locals were. The workers at the register, and behind them...and who served my breakfast, all told me of recommendations of the best spots to go in my stay period. Their service is definitely top notch. The breakfast and coffee were great. I had the basic breakfast. Delicious seasoned potatoes, moist sausage patties, and perfectly prepared over-easy eggs with sourdough bread. The coffee was on point with how I do my orders; house coffee with double espresso shot and vanilla shot/whole milk. The atmosphere is busy, but not crowded. Every good review has a point of criticism. Their sourdough bread was barely over done, but I devoured that too. I will revisit for breakfast for the remainder of my vacation.

Went in for a last minute birthday cake for my oldest daughter. We were out of town and needed it to work out for us. The Buttery was the right place! They personalized the cake for us and it was oh so good. Great prices for the quality. Awesome place! Thank you for making the day a special one for our daughter!

To cut through ganache cleanly, you can have a container of hot water handy and dip your knife into it to warm the blade. Have a clean towel to wipe most of the water from the knife. Between slicing you need to clean the blade and dip in water. Not quick, but if you work in a bakery that is how you make clean slices.
